Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung Wibowo declared the Indonesian capital safe and fully functional following recent unrest, assuring residents they can resume daily activities without concern.
“I also want to show the public that Jakarta is now back to normal. This is what’s important,” he said during the inauguration of Jakarta International University (UNIJI) in West Jakarta on Tuesday (2/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
He confirmed public transport services, including MRT, Transjakarta, LRT, and Mikrotrans, are operating normally. To encourage mobility, the Jakarta administration has waived MRT and Transjakarta fares until 8 September 2025.
The city is also repairing damaged facilities from earlier demonstrations, including 22 Transjakarta bus stops and one MRT station. Some infrastructure, such as pedestrian bridges in Senen and near Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters, suffered heavy damage.
Governor Pramono estimated total losses at Rp 80 billion (USD 5.1 million) and urged citizens to join cleanup efforts, saying community involvement is key to restoring and safeguarding Jakarta.
