Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia’s state energy company PT Pertamina has begun the initial operation of the Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracking (RFCC) Complex, the core processing unit of its $7.4 billion Balikpapan Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP), on Monday (10/11/2025).
“We hope to continue receiving support from President Prabowo Subianto. As I mentioned earlier, the RDMP process is progressing steadily,” Pertamina CEO Simon Aloysius Mantiri said, as reported by antaranews.com.
The RFCC unit is designed to produce Euro V–grade fuel and boost efficiency and output at the Balikpapan refinery, which is the largest modernization project in Indonesia and one of Southeast Asia’s most strategic energy investments.
The RDMP aims to raise crude processing capacity from 260,000 to 360,000 barrels per day and cut fuel imports by Rp 68 trillion annually. PT Pertamina said the project has achieved over 35% local content and employed more than 24,000 workers during peak construction.
