Rabies Fatality Grows, Ministry Aims to Intensify Vaccination in East Nusa Tenggara

Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) sets rabies vaccination in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to reach 70 percent following the increasing number of victims per November 15th, 2023. “Actually, we have only held vaccination for 17 percent because the limited number of the doses and the high cost of the vaccination. Which led to our target of NTT vaccination to reach 70 percent until we finally achieved herd immunity,” says Muhadjir in a press conference on Thursday (11/21/2023). Muhadjir will soon making sure that the vaccine would be distributed and 70 percent of canines would be vaccinated. Moreover, he adds that officials have already prepared pills and oral vaccines. “Now we have more-easy-to consume vaccine in pills and orals as we could hid the the vaccines in their foods,” Muhadjir said. He stressed that mass vaccinations on NTT would be held under the coordination of National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB). Previously on August 2023, Australian Government has provided 400 thousand doses of vaccine to Indonesian Government in Bali. From the 400 thousands of vaccine, half of it used for Bali, while the other half is for West Timor, which the vaccinations has begun since July 20th, 2023. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
