Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Riau Island Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Yan Fitri Halimansyah reports the criminal cases reported to his institution across 2023. He reports that in 2023, there are 3,437 criminal cases reported.
“Meanwhile in 2022, there are 3,465 criminal cases reported to us. Compared to this year, although not much, there is a decrease of 28 cases,” says the police chief on Thursday (12/28/2023).
Furthermore, in drug criminal case, Riau Island Regional Police Chief reports that his party has uncovered 342 drug cases with the arrest of 73 suspect in 2023. Compared to last year, drug cases uncovered by Yan party is 341 cases with 59 suspects.
“This demonstrates Riau Island Regional Police Chief commitment in uncovering drug cases which has become the focus of law enforcement in eradicating drug flow from the society. Although the difference of case number is just by a hair, however the difference in suspect arrests have able to show our seriousness in suppressing drug flow,” says Yan.
To suppress the number of drug abuse and support the Prevention of Eradication of Narcotics Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN), Riau Island Regional Police have launched various breakthroughs such as the construction of integrated post in Simpang Dam area, Sie Beduk Regency, Batam City.
In addition, Yan says that the location previously was often used by dealers for drugs transaction.
Moreover, Riau Island Regional Police have uncovered 141 cases of human trafficking which rose from 71 cases in 2022.
“From those case uncovering, Human Trafficking Task Force have able to rescue 448 victims. The number grew drastically from 156 rescued in 2022. Moreover, the task force have also able to arrest 102 suspects,” says the police chief.
