Inp.polri.go.id - Pekanbaru. As part of the 80th Bhayangkara Day celebrations, Riau Regijonal Police facilitated free cataract surgery for 310 residents across the province.
Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan emphasized the importance of solidarity and service to humanity.
“The best of people are those who bring benefit to others. This program is not just about medical treatment, but about restoring hope,” he said.
The humanitarian program was organized in collaboration with Awal Bros Hospital, Perdami Riau-Kepri, and Sekar Ayu Jiwanta Foundation. The surgeries, held at Awal Bros Panam Hospital, aimed to restore vision and improve quality of life for patients who had long suffered from impaired eyesight.
Participants underwent modern phacoemulsification procedures, ensuring safe and effective treatment. The initiative was warmly welcomed by the local community, highlighting the impact of cross-sector collaboration in expanding access to healthcare.
Foundation leader Emi Wiranto stressed that vision is one of life’s greatest gifts, and restoring it brings profound joy to families. Awal Bros CEO Arfan Awaloeddin praised the program as part of a broader commitment to accessible healthcare and linked it to the philosophy of Green Policing, which focuses on creating tangible benefits for society.
The event was attended by health officials, medical specialists, police leaders, and hundreds of beneficiaries, reinforcing Polri’s role in humanitarian service beyond law enforcement.
