Riau Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Muhammad Iqbal, directly leads the termination of 15.6 kilograms of methamphetamine confiscated from their international drug ring disclosure in the last three months. The termination was held in the field of Bengkalis Sub-regional Police on Sunday (3/3/2024). Iqbal states that since his two years in leading Riau Regional Police, every year they have confiscated around one ton of methamphetamine. “This is thanks to the team of Bengkalis Sub-regional Police, particularly the Drug Investigation Unit, who has been working hard and have produced some of the best work with the Bengkalis Customs in uncovering the drug flow, although faced with some serious challenges such as the geographic condition of small islands and bordered directly with neighboring state,” said Iqbal. Furthermore, the police revealed that most of the drug case disclosure suspects are those from Bengkalis who works as drug couriers. “We hoped that Bengkalis Regent and officials down to village level support us in preventing our people to be involved in the drug criminal actions,” adds the police chief.
