inp.polri.go.id - Batam. Batam Customs has again thwarted an attempt to smuggle crystal methamphetamine at Hang Nadim Airport, Batam, Riau Islands, using various methods, one of which was hidden in the perpetrator's anus and crotch.
"This is actually an old method, but lately it has resurfaced, the drugs were stored in the perpetrator's crotch and anus," said Batam Customs Head Zaky Firmansyah in Batam, Wednesday (5/21/2025).
He explained that the 480 grams of drugs were carried by ES (45), a woman, a former Indonesian Migrant Worker (PMI).
ES was a Lion Air passenger on the Batam-Surabaya-Lombok route. On the day of the incident, May 17, 2025, officers were suspicious of the perpetrator's movements when crossing the passenger goods inspection area.
"The results of the examination found a suspicious lump in the passenger's groin area," he said.
From the results of the in-depth examination, eight packages of crystal methamphetamine were found that he had hidden in the front and back body cavities of the perpetrator. After a narcotic test was carried out, it showed that the crystal powder carried by the perpetrator contained class I narcotics (methamphetamine).
In addition, the results of the urine test showed that the perpetrator also tested positive for drugs. "The perpetrator ES was promised a reward of Rp48 million for each delivery," said Zaky.
Furthermore, this case was transferred to the Riau Islands Regional Police and the BNN for follow-up criminal proceedings.
