Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Samarinda City Sub-regional Police in East Kalimantan arrested two primary suspects on Sunday (22/3/2026) in connection with a gruesome premeditated murder and dismemberment case, solving the crime less than 12 hours after the victim's remains were discovered.
"Within less than 12 hours, our personnel secured two individuals strongly suspected as the main perpetration of this mutilation crime," said Samarinda City Police Chief Senior Superintendent Hendri Umar during a press conference, as cited by antaranews.com.
Investigators identified the victim as a 35-year-old woman, whose remains were found in seven pieces in North Sempaja on Saturday. Rapid forensic identification led police to the victim's husband, identified as J (53), and a female accomplice, R (56).
According to police, the duo had planned the murder since January 2026, driven by resentment over infidelity allegations and a desire to seize the victim's assets. The suspects allegedly used a wooden beam and a traditional blade to execute the crime before dumping the remains. Both now face the death penalty under the Criminal Code.
