The Mobile Brigade Search and Rescue (SAR) Team, Company 3, together with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and Basarnas (National Search and Rescue Agency) recovered the body of a victim after being ambushed by a crocodile in the Menduk River, Paya Benua Village, West Mendo District, Bangka Regency, on Sunday, (8/3/2025)

On Saturday, August 2, 2025, the victim, Iskandi (53 years old), and his friend were fishing by longline in the Menduk River using a small boat.

Around 7:00 PM WIB, the victim and his friend were about to check their longline fishing rod. Suddenly, around 9:00 PM, the victim was attacked by a crocodile and dragged underwater. The victim's friend, who witnessed the incident, panicked and immediately sought help and reported the incident to the Paya Benua Village Head.

The Paya Benua Village Head then reported the incident to the Pangkalpinang Search and Rescue Office for assistance.

With coordination from the Pangkalpinang SAR Team, Mobile Brigade Corps Commander, Senior Superintendent Ahmad Arif, immediately ordered the SAR Team from Company 2, Battalion A Pelopor, led by First Inspector Jailani, to assist the search team.

Arriving at the location at 1:30 p.m. the search team and local residents immediately searched the river area where the victim went missing.

Finally, at 2:46 p.m. the joint SAR team successfully located the victim floating in the water. The victim was found intact with a bite wound on his right hand. The victim was then evacuated to his family's home.

First Inspector Jailani urged the public to be vigilant when conducting activities in the river area.

"Crocodiles often claim many lives in the Bangka region. I urge the public to always be vigilant when doing activities in river and lake areas," Jailani said.
