inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. Police are questioning H (41) for threatening a plane while on board with a bomb on Saturday (8/2/2025). He was a passenger on Lion Air flight JT 308 en route from Jakarta to Kualanamu.
Soekarno-Hatta Airport Sub-regional Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Ronald Sipayung, explained that the person concerned is currently undergoing intensive questioning by a joint investigation from the Ministry of Transportation's Civil Servant Officers (PPNS) and the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Sub-regional Police.
He explained that the incident began when the plane was taxiing towards the runway for takeoff from Terminal 1A of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, at around 6:35 p.m.
"Lion Air officers received a report from the cabin crew regarding a threat from a passenger who claimed to be carrying a bomb," he explained on Monday (8/4/2025).
Following up on this information, he said, the pilot immediately decided to cancel the flight and return to the apron. The passengers were then evacuated and asked to wait in the waiting room at Terminal 1A of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
"Meanwhile, the suspected perpetrator, H, was immediately detained and taken to the Operation and Control Room (OIC) for further questioning by Airport Authority officers," said Senior Commissioner Ronald.
According to Senior Superintendent Ronald, as a result of the incident, Lion Air flight JT 308 was delayed for several hours and had to change from a Boeing 737-900 MAX PK-LRG to a Boeing 737-900ER PK-LSW.
"The remaining 181 passengers were finally able to continue their journey to Kualanamu Airport at 9:55 PM WIB," said Senior Superintendent Ronald.
