Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Severe flooding continues to spread across Bekasi City and Regency in West Java as torrential rain and upstream water surges push water levels to three meters on Tuesday (4/3/2025).
The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) confirmed that multiple districts are submerged, with evacuations underway.
BNPB spokesperson Abdul Muhari said that authorities are still assessing the number of affected residents while joint rescue teams conduct evacuations.
"Flooding is caused by heavy rainfall and water inflows from upstream rivers," he said, as quotes by antaranews.com.
Seven districts in Bekasi City and six in Bekasi Regency are heavily inundated. At least 140 homes in Bekasi City are submerged, while 15 houses in Bekasi Regency are under 1.5 meters of water.
Emergency response teams have deployed inflatable boats for evacuations. Meanwhile, PLN has shut down power in affected areas to mitigate electrical hazards. Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant as flood conditions persist.
