Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Residents of Cipayung in East Jakarta were startled on Sunday morning after discovering a newborn baby girl alive inside a trash disposal area near Jalan Kramat Oyar road, Setu Urban Village. 

The infant was found wrapped in a blanket and placed inside a goodie bag at the edge of the Kali Sunter ravine.

“I’m not sure whether she was just born or already a few days old, but she was alive when we found her inside the goodie bag,” neighborhood chief Salam said  on Sunday (16/11/2025), as cited by antaranews.com.

The discovery occurred during a routine Sunday clean-up involving residents and local public facility workers (PPSU). They were alerted by the sound of the baby’s cry coming from the bag. 

The group immediately moved her to safety and rushed her to the Cipayung Community Health Center for medical assessment. 

Police said no CCTV cameras cover the location, making it difficult to identify who abandoned the baby. Officers have conducted an initial crime-scene examination and are continuing their investigation.
