Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Traffic Corps Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho confirmed on Sunday (21/9/2025) that police officers may continue using sirens and flashing lights, locally known as strobo, for official duties such as patrols and traffic control, despite a temporary freeze on their use for certain escort activities.
“Traffic police on duty, whether for routine patrols or traffic regulation, can use sirens and strobes. These signals are vital, especially on toll roads, to prevent accidents and ensure safety,” he said, as reported by antaranews.com.
Chief Agus emphasized that the restriction mainly targets private vehicle owners, warning that misuse disturbs public order.
The Traffic Corps is currently drafting revised regulations on siren and strobe use to prevent abuse, while urging the public to respect traffic rules.
