Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto said he had reminded the Military Police (POM) to comply with regulations on the use of sirens and flashing lights, known as strobo, following growing public complaints about misuse during escorts.
“I have told POM officers that using strobes must follow the rules. Switching them on when the road is empty is not appropriate. Sirens and strobes are regulated and meant for VVIP escorts,” he said at the TNI Fair in Jakarta on Sunday (21/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
Commander Agus added that he banned his own escorts from using strobes on public roads, saying he preferred to stop at red lights like other motorists.
His remarks came as the Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Traffic Corps temporarily suspended sirens and flashing lights used for routine escorts after viral public criticism. Escorts for certain officials continue, but sirens and flashing lights are no longer prioritized.
