Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police in Tangerang, Banten, have uncovered a suspected case of human trafficking linked to the dispatch of 10 Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) to Serbia. Deputy Chief of Soetta Airport Police Superintendent Ronald F.C Sipayung announced on Sunday (24/3/2024) the arrest of three suspects, identified FP (40), J (40) from West Jakarta, and WPB (25) from Bandar Lampung. Each suspect played a distinct role in the alleged trafficking operation, leading to their detention at the Soekarno Hatta Airport Police detention center. The investigation unfolded after authorities found the suspected human trafficking scheme involing the departure of 10 Indonesian citizens from Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Their intended destination was Malaysia, with a subsequent journey to Serbia for non-procedural employment. The 10 migrants were expected to work in a furniture factory in Serbia. The victims, promised monthly salaries ranging from Rp7,000,000 to Rp20,000,000, revealed their exploitation by the suspects. The suspects admitted to engaging in human trafficking activities multiple times, receiving a fee of Rp10 million per migrant worker. The suspects face human trafficking charges with penalties include imprisonment of up to 10 years and fines of up to Rp15 billion. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
