Inp.polri.go.id – South Kalimantan. South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief formed a Food and Fuel Task Force to anticipate supply scarcity ahead Eid Al-Fitr. “This task force has been operating so that members at the field could monitor the situation long before the Eid,” said South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Winarto quoted from antaranews on Sunday (3/24/2024). The Special Criminal Investigation Director of South Kalimantan Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Gafur Aditya Siregar led the task force to investigate the indication of foul play in the market. In his operation, he also kept in contact with related stakeholders such as the Trade Office and National Food Agency of South Kalimantan. On the other hand, Winarto noted that the government has to monitor the availability and price of the food supply as it closely ties with the lives of many. Same goes for the fuel, as its price usually goes up nearing Eid holiday due to most people traveling to their hometown. In response to the issue, South Kalimantan Regional Police formed the task force as a concrete action in preventing instability in the market and will enforce the law if found any violations. The task force is assigned to ensure the supply stock throughout Ramadan and Eid is safe with relatively normal prices. To the distributors and merchants in the market, Winarto reminds them comply with the law as the government aims to balance the price. (ad/ek/pr/nm)
