South Sumatra Regional Police Investigates Motives of the Perpetrator Attacked Traffic Police Personnel of Palembang Great City Departmental Police

South Sumatra Regional Police are now still investigating the perpetrator's motives who stabbed personnel from the traffic police unit of Palembang Great City Departmental Police who was on duty at Angkatan 66 Junction Police Station. Chief of South Sumatra Regional Police, Police Inspector General Eko Indra Heri, stated that police are now still gathering information related to the incident and background of the perpetrator, initialled MI, who stabbed Police Chief Brigadier Ridho Oktanaro. The perpetrator is now in custody to discover his exact motives. All information will be explored. People on location during the stabbing stated that MI briefly confessed that he is a terrorist. However, the Chief of South Sumatra Regional Police argues that the claim cannot be immediately believed. "We only can confirm that the victim suffered mild injuries on neck and hands due to the stabbing and had some short duel with the perpetrator before people were coming. The victim is now in stable condition, and we hope for a speedy recovery. Previously, the victim, personnel of the Traffic Police Unit of Palembang Great City Departmental Police, pushed a broken down car on the road together with his colleague. When the victim return to the police station to take a break, the perpetrator was coming to the victim pretending to ask for directions to Demang Lebar Daun street", Chief of South Sumatra Regional Police said on Friday (04/06/2021). When the victim answered and turned around, the perpetrator took a knife from his waist and attacked the victim's neck and hand. Afterwards, there was some duel between victim and perpetrator. The victim also screamed for help and struggled to get out of the station and keep his hands on the perpetrator. People in the neighbourhood separated the two immediately and brought the victim to the nearest hospital. The perpetrator was arrested in the station. During the arrest, the perpetrator did not show any resistance, and he was immediately brought to the South Sumatra Regional Police.
