Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has highlighted significant opportunities for Indonesian workers in Europe’s healthcare sector.
Nawawi, the Head of BRIN’s Population Research Center, explained during an online discussion on Tuesday (29/10/2024) that Europe is facing an aging population, leading to a heightened demand for nurses and caregivers.
“The growing elderly population in Europe creates substantial job openings for healthcare professionals, as they struggle to meet their healthcare needs,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Nawawi stressed that this trend offers a chance for Indonesian healthcare workers to secure employment abroad while benefiting from legal protections and job security that might not be as strong in other destinations.
He pointed out that issues related to rights violations and legal troubles are less common in Europe compared to other regions.
With a surplus of around 176,470 nurses in Indonesia, as reported by the Ministry of Health in 2021, Nawawi encouraged Indonesian workers to consider Europe as a viable employment option.
The Indonesian government partnered with Germany’s Federal Employment Agency in 2021 to facilitate the placement and protection of Indonesian healthcare workers.
