Supporting Food Resiliency in Border Area, Police Key Officials Visit Keerom Government

Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Head Coordinator of Community Development of Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam) Indonesian National Police (INP), Inspector General Hary Sudwijanto, along with his entourage attend an event with regional government and public figures of Keerom Regency, Papua, Wednesday (9/20/2023). The event was held at Yanemyo Village involving 100 participants. The program is part of Food Estate program, suggested by Hary Sudwijanto, in cooperation with Papua Regional Police and Keerom Government. The land area of 20 hectares near the borders of Indonesia-Papua New Guinea (PNG) was chosen for this program in supporting food resilience and support local economy. Keerom Regent, Piter Gusbager, highly appreciates INP in supporting local farmers. He states that the presence of INP in agriculture sector is part of extraordinary innovation and part of vital assets of INP. “This program will be owned by INP and will be used to realize a prosperous community, particularly the farmers,” said Piter. The head Coordinator of Community Development Hary Sudwijanto explained that developing a community is the main functions of INP who plays an integral role in providing a safe environment through preemptive actions. “The Coordinator of Community Development INP along with Keerom Government has programs in agriculture sector with the goals of improving the local economy,” said Hary. He also emphasized the potential of the land that fits for corn. “With this potential, it is expected that we could improve community’s prosperity while also suppressing the disturbance potential in the area,” adds Hary. To support the corn farm, officials has also provided facilities such as residency, laboratory, warehouse and classroom for farm training. The program shows the commitment of supporting food resiliency and improving the prosperity of locals in Papua, particularly in border area with breakthroughs and innovations. (ad/inp/pr/nm)
