Banda Aceh - The Aceh Regional Police's Narcotics Detective Directorate thwarted the smuggling of 81 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 100,000 ecstasy pills from Malaysia. Aceh Regional Police Chief Inspector General Pol Wahyu Widada at his headquarters said that in addition to confiscating tens of kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, the police also arrested nine perpetrators. "One of them was given firm action because he resisted when he was arrested. However, the person concerned was declared dead in the hospital," said Inspector General of Police Wahyu Widada. The perpetrator who died was JI. Meanwhile, the eight others who were arrested had the initials MN, IB HAM, AB, NZ, KM, AZ, and LUK. The suspects are residents of Aceh and North Sumatra. Apart from drugs, the Aceh Police team also confiscated five of their various cars, four motorbikes and motorboats, as well as a number of cell phones, ATM cards, and bank account books. The Aceh Regional Police Chief said that the arrests of the international network of drugs gang were carried out in a number of places in East Aceh, between Idi Cut and Simpang Ulim, on Friday (30/10) in the morning. The arrest of the drug gang started with information from the public stating that there was drug smuggling to Aceh via the sea route from Malaysia. The Aceh Police Team investigated this information for a month. From the results of the investigation, the team ambushed a car on the national road in Idi Cut, East Aceh. When about to be arrested, the perpetrators AB and AZ in the car fought back. The police shot both in the leg. In the car were found four plastic sacks containing 81 packs of Chinese tea containing shabu-shabu weighing up to 81 kilograms. "Apart from the shabu-shabu, the team also secured four large plastic packages containing ecstasy pills weighing up to 20 kilograms or around 100 thousand grains," said Wahyu Widada. Accompanied by the Director of the Aceh Regional Police's Narcotics Detective, Senior Police Commissioner Ade Sapari, the Regional Police Chief added that the team arrested other suspects from case development. "Each of the perpetrators has a role in the plot. There are controllers, pick-up of drugs in the Malacca Strait, couriers and road monitors when the drugs are brought on the highway," he said. From the results of the investigation, said the Kapolda, the perpetrators were an international network drug gang. They admit that they have been smuggling drugs to Aceh seven times by sea. "This gang has smuggled nearly half a ton of shabu-shabu. And lastly was thwarted with 81 kilograms of evidence," he said.
