Each of the four sides is raised separately to the top of the Kaaba. The team attached each piece of cloth from the top and tied it at the bottom. This is done on all four sides of the Kaaba. The team then straightened each line from all four sides and stitched them together. The Kiswah of the holy Kaaba consists of 850 kg of raw silk, which is dyed black, 120 kg of gold thread, and 100 silver threads. From Saudigazette, about 200 professional workers and administrators working for the Kiswah of the Holy Kaaba, all are trained, qualified and specialized citizens. The kiswah is a piece of gold embroidered cloth used to cover the Kaaba, the center of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Kiswah In Arabic means 'veil' which refers to the cloth that covers the coffin. Every year, the bottom of the kiswah of the Kaaba is raised 3 meters in preparation for the new Hajj season and replaced with a white cloth. This procedure is carried out every year before the Hajj season to protect the kiswah, as some pilgrims touch and pull the black cloth when they perform 'Tawaf' at the Holy Kaaba. Then on the ninth day of the month of Dzulhijjah, a new kiswah will be installed to cover the sacred building of the Kaaba. It is believed that the existence of this kiswah glorifies and honors the place which is considered the holiest in the Islamic tradition.
