inp.polri.go.id – The Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the Executive Board of the Indonesian Bicycle Sports Association (PB ISSI) and Precision Equator will attempt to break the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI) cycling team record by cycling from Jakarta-Semarang for 24 hours on Saturday, June 25, 2022.
This attempt is to welcome the 76th Bhayangkara Day which falls on July 1. Various cyclists from the Police/TNI, the bicycle community, to national cycling athletes were also involved in breaking the MURI record.
They are divided into four teams of Arjuna, Garuda, Srikandi, and Bima. In breaking the Muri record, two teams, namely Garuda and Arjuna, will cycle 508km for 24 hours, starting at Bhayangkara Field, Jakarta on Saturday (25/6) at 05:30 WIB and finishing at the Semarang Police Academy.
In this activity, several national athletes were involved such as Terry Yudha Kusuma, Bernard Benjamin Van Aert, Deatlon Nur Arif, Selamat Juangga, Aiman Cahyadi, and Jamalidin, as well as Ayustina Delia Priatna. They are all cyclists who previously appeared at the Vietnam SEA Games.
Previously, Terry and Ayustina just won silver medal in the Asian Track Cycling Championships (ATCC) 2022 at the Indira Gandhi Sport Complex, New Delhi, India, 18-22 June.
Secretary General of PB ISSI Parama Nugroho said the pioneer in this activity was Presisi Khatulistiwa which is a movement of sports activists to unite under the name of sports, regardless of differences in social background, ethnicity, race, and religion to achieve the same goal of making achievements.
"This event is to break the 508km Muri record in teams. The goal is to present something unique," said Parama.
"Although the cycling community is a hobbyist, they finally have a personal goal to achieve better results than yesterday," he added.
With a distance of 508km, participants will pass through various cities in the Provinces of West Java and Central Java. All preparations have also been made, one of which is by checking the condition of the roads of the cities that will be passed.
In West Java, participants will pass through Kawarang, Indramayu, and Subang. Then enter Central Java by passing Brebes, Pemalang, Pekalongan, Batang, Kendal, until arriving in Semarang.
