inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of Metro Jaya Regional Police revealed the results of its street crime investigations over the past three months. A total of 1,449 street crime cases were solved.

The Director of Special Criminal Investigation, Senior Superintendent Wira Satya Triputra, explained that the thousands of cases comprised 552 aggravated thefts, 70 muggings, 464 motor vehicle thefts, and 229 simple thefts.

"This proves that street crime remains very high and is our primary concern," he said on Tuesday (July 8, 2025).

He revealed that the investigative team also took firm action against thuggery, often disguised as debt collection. A total of 49 extortion cases were committed by debt collectors and thug groups.

"After we held an operation against thuggery, 49 more extortion cases were discovered. This demonstrates our commitment to eradicating this type of practice," he said.

Of the total cases uncovered, 1,745 suspects were arrested, consisting of 1,413 men, 71 women, 61 children, and 52 of whom were repeat offenders.
