Thousands of Personnel to Guard 10,836 Polling Stations in West Sumatra: Police Says

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Head of West Sumatra Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Suharyono opens the Monthly Operational Meeting Quarter III on Wednesday (10/9/2024) at The ZHM Premiere Hotel Ballroom, Padang.

The meeting raised the theme of “Peace, Security, Order and Preparation for 2024 Regional Head Election Security”.

“This theme contains the meaning that we must always be ready in facing the dynamics of the public, ready in handling security disturbances during the Regional Head Election, while also anticipating the disaster in the province,” says Suharyono.

In his remark, he explains that the meeting is the perfect moment to discuss control, security, analysis, and evaluation towards police duties and challenges faced by them.

The meeting also gives the opportunity for police members to receive directions, evaluations, and instructions from police leaders and also emphasis according to the developing situation in hopes that police operation runs accordingly.

On the other hand, Suharyono reveals that the number of personnel he prepared for 2024 Singgalang Mantap Praja Operation is 8,784 personnel. Thousands of personnel will be stationed to secure the 10,836 Polling Stations.

“I urge the regional unit chiefs to oversee and assess the situation at the polling stations vulnerable to disturbances,” instructs Suharyono.

The Regional Head Election in West Sumatra will present two pairs of gubernatorial candidates, 32 pairs of candidates for regent and deputy regent, and 22 pairs of candidates for mayor and deputy mayor. While in Dharmasraya, the election only presents the sole candidate.
