Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. TikTok officially announced on Tuesday (14/4/2026) its compliance with the Ministry of Communication and Digital’s directive to restrict platform access for users under 16 years old to align with national child protection regulations.
"We deeply respect the direction from the Ministry, which mandates that digital platforms must clearly state they are intended for users aged 16 and above," TikTok confirmed in a formal press statement regarding their commitment to local laws, as cited by antaranews.com.
Under Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 (PP Tunas), the short-video giant will deactivate accounts belonging to underage users following a series of notifications. The company is currently undergoing a self-assessment process to ensure full synchronization with the newly enacted Ministry Regulation No. 9 of 2026.
While the policy is strict, users over the age limit whose accounts are mistakenly flagged may submit appeals through age verification channels. To date, TikTok has deployed over 50 automated safety and privacy settings specifically designed to protect its teenage community within the Indonesian digital ecosystem.
