The Indonesian Military (TNI) Head of I Information Center, Major General Hariyanto, confirmed on Friday (11/10/2024) that all TNI soldiers currently serving with the UN peacekeeping forces (UNIFIL) in Lebanon are safe and continuing their duties as usual after Israeli airstrikes and ground invasions in southern Lebanon and Beirut since early October.

"All TNI personnel in southern Lebanon are safe and operating under UNIFIL's command," he said, as reported by antaranews.com.

Two TNI soldiers injured in an Israeli strike on the UNIFIL base in Naqoura are recovering well.

UNIFIL has urged all parties to assure the safety of peacekeepers in Lebanon. 

Over 1,000 TNI soldiers are deployed across Lebanon as part of various UNIFIL units. Despite Israel's demands for the UN forces to vacate their positions, the UN insists on maintaining their mandate under Security Council Resolution 1701. Israeli forces have continued targeting UNIFIL bases, including in Naqoura and Labbouneh.
