Inp.polri.go.id - Magelang. Commissioner General Muhammad Fadil Imran, the head of the Indonesian National Police's (INP) Security Maintenance Board, has announced the strengthening of security measures at the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park, a designated super-priority tourist destination.
"We have introduced a 'command center' vehicle equipped to enhance security in the Borobudur Temple area," he declared following the Board's technical meeting held at Lumbini Park, Borobudur Temple, Magelang, Central Java, on Wednesday (13/9/2023).
The general disclosed that they have also installed "portable" CCTV units at 10 strategic locations where conventional CCTV coverage was lacking. Additionally, the police have provided electric bicycles and pods for patrol purposes.
"Our commitment extends to all super-priority tourist destinations. We aim to instill a heightened sense of security to ensure that both domestic and international tourists continue to visit, contributing significantly to our foreign exchange earnings," he was quoted by antaranews.com as saying.
General Fadil further highlighted his intention to promote the tourism police and their specialized role in ensuring tourism safety, explaining that the two initiatives were intended to align the directions and policies of directors who attend the meeting to similar security enhancements at tourist sites within their respective regions.
In addition to the five super-priority tourist destinations, namely Borobudur, Lake Toba, Likupang, Mandalika, and Labuan Bajo, Imran revealed that five additional destinations will get similar security provisions. These include Bromo, Malioboro, Lague Batam, Wakatobi, and Bangka Belitung.
"We will strengthen security wherever it is deemed necessary, as indicated by the Ministry of Tourism, Economy, and Creative Industry. Ensuring safety is a key factor in boosting foreign exchange earnings," he asserted.
