Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Traffic Corps will enforce operational restrictions on freight trucks during the Christmas and New Year holiday period, aiming to ease traffic congestion and reduce accidents.
The measures will be implemented as part of Operasi Lilin 2024, running from 22 December 2024, to 2 January 2025.
Traffic Corps Chief Inspector General Aan Suhanan announced on Saturday (15/12/2024) that trucks will be prohibited from using toll roads during this period, while access to arterial roads will be limited to 10 pm to 5 am only.
The Traffic Corps has also conducted a tactical floor game (TFG), a simulation exercise involving police from key provinces and other stakeholders. The session reviewed potential scenarios and refined traffic management strategies for holiday travel.
Key traffic hotspots, including toll roads and rest areas, will receive special attention. Motorists are advised to avoid using motorcycles for long-distance travel, as they account for 78% of road accidents, according to Korlantas data.
The measures aimed to ensure safer and smoother journeys for millions of Indonesians traveling during the festive season.
