Two Bodies of Indonesians Identified in Turkey

The bodies of two Indonesian citizens, who fell victims of the recent earthquake in Turkey, were identified after they lost contact for two weeks, Head of the Public Information Bureau of the Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan said on Sunday (2/19/23).

He said the Indonesian Search And Rescue (INASAR) Team and local officers had discovered the the two female bodies under the rubble of the Galeria apartment building in Diyarbakir, Turkey on February 16, 2023.

The spokesperson said the scientific identification was performed on the two bodies, which were found in conditions that were difficult to recognize visually.

"One body was identified as a 33-year-old Irma Lestari, a resident of Denpasar, Bali, and the other one was identified as Ni Wayan Supini, a 45-year-old resident of Badung, Bali," he said .

The government, through the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara and the Indonesian MInistry of Foreign Affairs with the assistance of the Police Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara, is expected to send the two bodies back to their families in Indonesia, he added.
