inp.polri.go.id – The Ukrainian government cut diplomatic ties with North Korea after the country led by Kim Jong Un recognized the sovereignty of the Donetsk People's Republic and the Lugansk People's Republic.
Quoted from AFP, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry condemned North Korea's stance.
"In response, Ukraine announced the severance of diplomatic relations with North Korea," quoted the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Thursday (14/7).
Before North Korea, Syria first recognized the sovereignty of the Donetsk People's Republic and the Lugansk People's Republic in eastern Ukraine.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said Russia had no allies. However, Kuleba said, Russia asked North Korea to recognize the Donetsk People's Republic and the Lugansk People's Republic.
"Russia has no more allies, except for countries that depend on it financially and politically," Kuleba said.
Donetsk and Lugansk are regions in eastern Ukraine. There are pro-Russian groups in both regions. They admit that they have long wanted to be part of Russia.
