Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice President Ma'ruf Amin urged all political parties to maintain composure as the 2024 elections approach during the "INDONESIA 12AYA" event commemorating Kompas TV's 12th anniversary on Monday (11/9/23).
"I urge political parties to always promote calmness ahead of the elections," said the Vice President.
He highlighted that every phase leading up to the elections must be conducted peacefully, allowing the public to witness and appreciate the democratic process, unified in national spirit.
He underscored the crucial role of election organizers, as well as the government, Indonesian Military, and Indonesian National Police (INP), in upholding neutrality throughout the electoral process. He called on all parties to ensure that there is no impartiality and fraud that could undermine the credibility and accountability of the elections.
"If there is a lawsuit or similar matter, it must be processed through a mechanism under applicable laws," he stated.
The Vice President expressed confidence in the commitment of the General Election Commission (KPU) and the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) at both central and regional levels to diligently oversee every stage of the presidential, legislative, and regional elections.
Addressing the press, the Vice President called for ongoing vigilant coverage of the election process, highlighting the critical importance of providing accurate, timely information.
The media's role is crucial in maintaining societal decorum and rational discourse throughout the political year leading up to 2024, he concluded.
