Inp.polri.go.id - Puncak Jaya. Security operations in complex regions are often associated with heavy vehicles and high alert, but on Monday afternoon (1/6/2026), the approach in Puncak Jaya was noticeably more conversational.

Under the clear skies of the Muara District, officers from the Kulirik Post, part of the Damai Cartenz Task Force, left their base on foot. Their simple objective was to walk the local routes, observe the surroundings, and talk to the people living there.

The foot patrol began with a standard briefing at the post before officers moved out to monitor key community areas. The goal of walking these routes is twofold, maintaining a visible preventive presence to deter disruptions and ensuring that daily local commerce and activities can proceed without friction.

As officers moved through the district, the focus shifted from standard surveillance to community engagement. Officers paused their march to chat with residents working along the roads, using the informal encounters to gather direct feedback on current neighborhood dynamics and quietly reinforce community safety tips.

Local residents welcomed the brief interactions, which have become a core strategy for the task force as it attempts to balance tactical readiness with a more approachable presence.

"Routine patrols are a necessary preventive step to monitor developments on the ground directly," said Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, the Head of Damai Cartenz Task Force. "The presence of officers in the field is simply intended to provide reassurance and maintain a stable environment."

The choice to patrol on foot rather than inside vehicles is deliberate. Senior Superintendent Adarma Sinaga, the Deputy Head of the Damai Cartenz Task Force, noted that walking the area allows officers to notice subtle changes in the environment and respond far more effectively than they could from a distance.

By the time the unit returned to the Kulirik Post, the district was reported entirely calm, with no security issues logged, a quiet result that the task force hopes to maintain through ongoing community dialogue.
