West Papua Police Investigates the Funds of Armed Criminal Group Coming From Villages

inp.polri.go.id – West Papua Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Tahi Monang Silitonga directed his staff to investigate allegations of village funds corruption to support armed criminal groups. West Papua Police Director of General Criminal Investigation, Commissioner Romilus Tam has said that the police are currently investigating the use of village funds in two areas that are often attacked by the armed criminal group (KKB) movement and are affiliated with the West Papua National Committee (KNPB) organization. "Regarding the flow of village funds to support an organizations that are against the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, it has become one of the priority cases of the West Papua Regional Police as directed and committed by the Regional Police Chief," explained the West Papua Regional Police Intermediary Officer, quoted from waktunya.online, Saturday, (10/29/22). Romilus also said that specifically several villages in Maybrat and Teluk Bintuni had been investigated because they were suspected of being nests of the KNPB organization. "There are several villages that have been indicated to use village funds to support activities that are contrary to the ideology of the Indonesian state," concluded Commissioner Romilus.
