Inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. The Directorate of Narcotics Crime of the Yogyakarta Regional Police has uncovered various drug abuse cases in January 2024, resulting in the arrest of 28 suspects in various public areas in the province and in Central Java.
Superintendent M Mardiyono, the Head of Subdirectorate 3 of the Yogyakarta Police Narcotics Crime Directorate, disclosed that out of the 28 suspects, 16 were allegedly involved in distribution, while the remaining 12 were users.
During the operations, the police confiscated evidence, consisting of157.61 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 44.78 grams of marijuana, 7.49 grams of gorilla tobacco, 49.5 psychotropic pills and 25,294 hard drug pills.
"If one gram of crystal meth can be used by ten people, one gram of marijuana and gorilla tobacco can be used by four people, and one psychotropic pill and dangerous drug pill each can be used by one person, then the disclosure in January 2024 by the the Yogyakarta Police has potentially saved 27,129 individuals from drug and dangerous drug abuse," said Superintendent Verena Sri Wahyuningsih, the Head of the Public Information Sub-unit of the Yogyakarta Police Public Relations Unit.
The suspects will be charged under laws on Narcotics, Psychotropic Substances and Health.
