Yogyakarta Special Region Regional Police, Inspector General Suwondo Nainggolan reminds his forces the importance of Indonesian National Police (INP) neutrality in 2024 General Elections. He emphasized that the main duty of INP is to ensure the security of campaign and the elections. “We have to make sure that the elections would go smoothly,” calls the police chief. He also emphasized that police neutrality ahead 2024 General Elections is a crucial aspect in maintaining integrity and legitimacy of Indonesian elections. Its neutrality would also be the guarantee that the elections is free from any intervention. According to him, if there are any police member’s family that is involved in political contestation, it is expected that they separate their personal matters with police neutrality. The two-star General also explains that police neutrality in elections have positive impact in improving public confidence in Indonesian democracy.
