Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia will make its newly launched national history book freely accessible online starting February 2026, the Ministry of Culture announced in Jakarta on Thursday (8/1/2026).
Culture Minister Fadli Zon said the digital release requires a short conversion process following the book’s December 2025 launch.
“I am targeting February so the public can already access it for free,” he said during a media briefing, as quoted by antaranews.com
The book will be printed only in limited numbers for national and regional libraries and selected universities, while the general public will access it through the ministry’s official website. The initiative is expected to broaden public access to authoritative historical resources while limiting high printing costs.
Written by 123 historians from 34 universities, the 11-volume series traces Indonesia’s history from early civilizations to democratic consolidation in 2024. The ministry also plans to develop thematic history books later this year.
