Inp.polri.go.id - Badung. A total of 16 international flights were canceled at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali on Friday (21/3/2025) following the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara.
“As of 4 pm local time, airlines canceled 16 international flights for safety reasons,” said Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, the airport’s general manager.
The cancellations affected routes to and from Australia (Darwin, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane), Kuala Lumpur, and Shanghai, according to antaranews.com.
Most flights were operated by Jetstar, while AirAsia X and Juneyao Airlines served the Kuala Lumpur and Shanghai routes.
Despite the disruption, Ngurah Rai’s airspace remains unaffected, with no volcanic ash detected in the airport area.
A disaster management plan is in place, and affected passengers are advised to coordinate with their respective airlines for refunds, rescheduling, or rerouting options.
