Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Around 16,000 activists worldwide are preparing to join the Global Sumud Flotilla, a maritime mission carrying humanitarian aid to break Israel’s 18-year blockade of Gaza. Indonesian groups under the coalition Sumud Nusantara will take part in the voyage later this August.
“Indonesia, together with 43 other countries, will deploy around 70 vessels heading to Gaza. This mission is to deliver food, water, and essential supplies for the two million residents of Gaza who have endured decades of siege,” said Rifa Berliana Arifin, the Presidium of Aqsa Working Group (AWG), during a press conference in Jakarta on Friday (15/8/2025).
Indonesian NGOs, including AWG and International Networking for Humanitarian (INH), confirmed their participation, though each vessel will only carry 20 people on average.
INH noted about 1,400 volunteers from 44 nations will directly sail, while others will coordinate support, according to antaranews.com.
Religious leaders in Indonesia stressed the blockade violates international law and urged global solidarity with Palestinians.
