inp.polri.go.id - East Nusa Tenggara. The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police held a press conference on Tuesday (5/5/2026) regarding the handling of the misuse of subsidized fuel that occurred between February and May 2026.
This event emphasized the NTT Regional Police's commitment to eradicating illegal practices that harm the state and the public.
The Head of Public Relations for the NTT Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Henry Novika Chandra, explained that the disclosure of this case was a response to public complaints regarding the scarcity of subsidized fuel and a demonstration of the police's institutional accountability.
"This action demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that state subsidies are properly targeted. This action was carried out on the direct order of the NTT Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Rudi Darmoko, urging all ranks to take firm action against perpetrators of subsidized fuel misuse," he emphasized.
He also added that this step aligns with the President of the Republic of Indonesia's Asta Cita program and the Indonesian National Police Chief's Precision program to achieve transparency and justice.
Meanwhile, the Head of Operations for the NTT Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Jhony Afrizal Sharifudin, emphasized that this action aims to maintain the stability of energy distribution in the NTT region.
"This law enforcement is being carried out to ensure that subsidized fuel truly reaches those in need, such as farmers, fishermen, and MSMEs. This is also part of efforts to maintain energy security and regional economic stability," he explained.
He emphasized that these illegal practices not only harm the state, but also have a direct impact on the lower classes who depend on subsidized fuel.
Furthermore, the Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the NTT Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Hans Rachmatulloh Irawan, revealed that the potential state losses due to this practice reached more than IDR 10.16 billion.
Overall, the 27 cases of subsidized fuel misuse are being handled across various jurisdictions of the NTT Regional Police, with five cases handled by the NTT Regional Police's Special Criminal Investigation Directorate and 22 cases by the Sub-regional Police.
The NTT Regional Police also urged the public to use subsidized fuel wisely and to report any indication of misuse.
With this firm step, the NTT Regional Police hope that the distribution of subsidized fuel will be on target and provide a deterrent effect for the perpetrators, in order to realize energy justice for all people in East Nusa Tenggara.
