inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Foreign Ministry records 65 Indonesians have returned home from Lebanon. Of the total number, 41 have arrived at the International Airport Soekarno-Hatta.
“In total, 65 Indonesians successfully evacuated from Lebanon. The number was recorded since the declaration of emergency status by the Indonesian Ambassador in Beirut on August 4th, 2024,” says Director of Indonesian Citizen and Legal Entities Protection, Juda Nugraha, on Monday (10/7/2024).
According to him, the 40 Indonesians consist of 38 adults and two children. There is also one foreigner from Lebanon who is the wife of the Indonesian who is evacuated.
“This morning, 20 of our people and one foreigner arrived in Indonesia. They were travelling to Amman, Yordania by Qatar Airways QR 967. 20 more will soon arrive later in the evening,” says Juda.
Previously, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says 116 Indonesians chose to stay in Lebanon although the situation in the middle-east country has gotten worse.
He said that of the more than one hundred Indonesian citizens who are still surviving, they are students and migrant workers. They reasoned that they chose to stay in Lebanon because they are still studying, and because they have work contracts in the country.
