Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Following the resolution of a territorial dispute over four islands, Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf announced plans to open oil and gas investment opportunities in the newly recognized Aceh-administered territory.
“We will invite investors. They are welcome to explore and extract our natural resources—as long as we respect one another,” he told reporters at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday (17/6/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
Asked whether the islands could become a new oil and gas block under Aceh’s control, Governor Muzakir confirmed his commitment: “Yes, yes, absolutely.”
He also expressed openness to joint development with North Sumatra, particularly if private investors from the province show interest.
“If there are investors or entrepreneurs from there, why not? We can work together,” the Governor added.
While technical details remain undisclosed, he is confident in the islands’ energy potential. President Prabowo Subianto has ruled that the islands of Panjang, Lipan, Mangkir Gadang, and Mangkir Ketek officially fall under Aceh’s administration, ending a years-long dispute with North Sumatra.
