Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The police arrested some village heads in Papua who were suspected of providing financial assistance to the KKB. The Chief of the Papua Regional Police, Police Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri explained that the village heads were arrested for questioning regarding financial assistance to the KKB.
"There are already several village heads who are currently undergoing an inspection process regarding village funds channeled to the KKB so that they are used to finance the group's operations," explained Police Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri as reported by Antara, Saturday (17/6/23).
The village heads are also currently being detained so that the investigation can be carried out more optimally. If they are suspected of being involved in channeling village funds to the KKB, they will be dealt with strictly through the legal process.
Police Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri revealed that apart from Nduga Regency, several other areas were of concern to the police. The Chief of the Sub-Regional Police was asked to study and process the law if there were any indications of the distribution of village funds to the KKB.
He also revealed that village funds should be given to speed up the development process. If it is used to assist the KKB, it will be subject to legal proceedings for those involved.
"It's not the other way around, the funds are given to the KKB which often makes the people around it nervous. If there are indications, the village head will be prosecuted," said the Chief of the Papua Regional Police.
