Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) has undertaken an initiative in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, to conduct a data collection operation targeting Indonesian overstayers and undocumented children (ATT). Spearheaded by Medical and Health Team and the International Relations (IR) Division, this endeavor aims to address the issue of human trafficking crimes (TPPO), the Head of Medical Health Team Inspector General Asep Hendradiana explained.
He further elaborated that the data collection was carried out following the Chief of INP Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo's instruction. As part of the process, the documentation of overstaying Indonesian nationals was meticulously verified, including the completion of an Informed Consent form.
In a written statement released on Sunday (18/6/23), he stated, "Our team also conducted the collection of Buccal swab DNA samples from 51 WNI Overstayers and undocumented children residing in Dubai and Abu Dhabi."
To ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data, the sample collection procedure involved the expertise of five doctors from the Indonesian Doctors Association in the Middle East (PDITT). Thus far, the team has successfully collected 226 DNA samples.
The collection of DNA samples serves as a crucial means of establishing comparative data since proper documentation for these children is currently unavailable. The guidance provided by Chief of INP emphasizes the importance of safeguarding the rights of Indonesian nationals abroad, particularly those who have fallen victim to TPPO.
