inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. The Bali Regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate has uncovered a 1.8 kilogram cocaine smuggling case allegedly involving a foreign national from Australia with the initials LAA (43).
Bali Regional Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya said that the perpetrator smuggled the cocaine from abroad through a package delivery service disguised in stationery and dolls.
"The modus operandi in this crime was to use foreign postal services to send cocaine to which would later be distributed across Bali," said Daniel in a press conference in Denpasar on Monday (5/26/2025).
He explained that the drug packages were sent from England in two types of packages with different addresses to North Kuta, Badung Regency to deceive officers. The packages were sent on Saturday, April 12, 2025.
The two packages arrived in Bali on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Upon arrival in Bali, Ngurah Rai Customs and Excise officers conducted an X-ray image analysis and suspected that the packages contained narcotics. The Customs and Excise officers also informed the police about this.
Then, on May 21, the suspect LAA asked an online motorcycle taxi driver with the initials YE to pick up the package. However, because he was busy, YE picked up the package on May 22, 2025. After YE picked it up, the first package was asked to be given to another driver in Renon, Denpasar to be delivered to Tibubeneng, North Kuta.
After that, witness YE was then directed again to pick up the second package.
At that time, the police had conducted a thorough monitoring of the package until finally arresting suspect LAA who allegedly received the package at a villa located in Manggis Alley, Tibubeneng, North Kuta District, Badung Regency.
From the results of the disclosure, the police managed to secure the cocaine found in the two packages, totaling 206 packages with a total weight of 1,816.92 grams gross.
In addition to the evidence of cocaine, other supporting evidence was also found in the room where suspect LAA lived, namely one digital scale and one bundle of plastic, as well as a cellphone.
Daniel revealed that from the results of the investigation, LAA admitted that he only carried out orders from someone with a wage of IDR 50 million. Daniel said the price of the drugs was estimated to reach IDR 12 billion.
The suspect LAA was charged with Article 113 paragraph (2), Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
The Bali Regional Police Narcotics Directorate continues to investigate the international drug network and does not rule out the possibility that there are other perpetrators involved in the drug network in Bali.
