Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Ministry of Finance have agreed to implement a sovereign debt securities (SBN) debt switch transaction totaling Rp 173.4 trillion for 2026. 

This bilateral mechanism, finalized during a high-level coordination meeting on Friday, aligns the transaction volume with the total amount of government bonds set to mature this year.

"This bilateral exchange between the Ministry of Finance and Bank Indonesia follows successful precedents established in 2021, 2022, and 2025," said Bank Indonesia and Finance Ministry in a joint written statement published on Saturday (21/2/2026), as cited by antaranews.com. 

The authorities explained that the switch will be conducted transparently using prevailing market prices to maintain financial integrity. This synergy aims to manage the 2026 state budget deficit, projected at 2.68% of GDP, while ensuring the Rupiah remains stable. 

By synchronizing fiscal and monetary strategies, the government seeks to maintain inflation within the target range of 2.5% ± 1% and foster sustainable economic growth amid global market dynamics.
