inp.polri.go.id - Serang. Officers from the Banten Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Center (BKHIT) thwarted an attempt to smuggle 2.9 tons of illegal wild boar meat at Merak Port, Cilegon City, Wednesday (5/6/2025).

The meat without health documents was known to have come from Central Lampung and was planned to be sent to Palangkaraya.

"The arrest was made on the delivery of wild boar meat around 2.9 tons. The goods were not equipped with health certificates from the area of origin," said Merak BKHIT Banten Implementation Unit Officer, Fitriasari on Wednesday (5/7/2025).

According to her, the smuggling method was carried out by disguising the meat under piles of bran and corn as camouflage.

"During our check on a truck in the Merak Port area, we found the wild boar meat under bran and corn," he said.

Fitriasari explained that the transport truck and two people suspected of being the driver and assistant are currently under further examination by the authorities. The handling process for the confiscated meat is also being carried out according to quarantine procedures.

She added that supervision of animal commodity traffic at Merak Port has been increased ahead of Eid al-Adha to prevent the entry of illegal animal products that have the potential to transmit disease.

"This action is also part of the intensive supervision that we are carrying out ahead of Eid al-Adha," she said.
