Head of Terrorism Prevention National Agency (BNPT) Commissioner General Rycko Amelza Dahniel shares his knowledge to Indonesian students in England on the importance of preserving nationalism values. According to Rycko, those values must be preserved amidst heterogenic Indonesian communities as he saw the deteriorating nationalism values in Indonesians. "We are able to gain our independence because we have the same goal although within heterogenic communities. Now, we are not living in struggle, which sadly deteriorates our nationalism values,” says Commissioner General Rycko on Wednesday (13/12/2023). In respond to this, Rycko considers high educations could help preserve nationalism values. According him, the presence of BNPT amidst Indonesian students in English is part of their program of educating the dangers of radicalism and terrorism for teenagers. Moreover, the terrorism is a movement that operates in secret, systematic, massive, and organized. “It must be anticipated. The group moves in darkness, secret, systematic, massive, and organized. And for that, in facing the challenges of terrorism and radicalism, BNPT designed a program to educate our students, such as this that we held in England,” said Rycko. Rycko then explained that there are three vulnerable groups that often targeted by radicals which are women, teenagers, and children. However, according to Knowledge Hub of 2023, there was a decline of terrorist activities from 2018 to 2022. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
