inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. Around 32 protesters, 22 of them are students, have been secured by the police when dispersing the riot in Jl. Pemuda on Monday (8/26/2024). The students will be accompanied by their parents when they are examined by the police regarding their involvement in the protest.

The report was conveyed by the Head of Central Java Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Artanto when interviewed by the media on Tuesday (8/27/2024). In his remarks, he still appreciates the college students for voicing their concern during the protest.

However, when the peaceful protest was escalating, police had to arrest 32 protesters with 22 of them being vocational students. Artanto says that the students are currently being examined by the police.

Previously, the rally by the college students in Semarang ended with riots. Police had to resort to firm actions to disperse the uncontrolled mass. However, Artanto remarks that the riots did not affect the general security and order in the region. All public daily activities remained as usual.

“As of now, the situation in Central Java is under control. All public activities have been running as usual,” assures Artanto.

Artanto and his party implores for all public elements and students to always comply with the law, including when they are voicing their concern in public.
