Thousands of joint personnel were deployed to secure the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) building and General Election Commission (KPU) office on Monday (8/26/2024). This deployment is to anticipate a follow up demonstration for the Regional Head Election law.

“Today’s force strength for demonstration security is 4,716 personnel,” said Senior Superintendent Ade Ary Syam as the Head of Metro Jaya Regional Police Public Relations Division on Monday (8/26/2024).

Ade reveals that the joint personnel consists of 2,780 regional task force, 245 sub-regional task force, and 1,691 joint forces of Indonesian National Police, Indonesian National Military, and Regional Government officials. They will be deployed to secure several points around the building, manage the traffic around the locations.

“2,728 personnel for DPR building, 1,771 personnel for KPU building, and 211 personnel for traffic management,” says Ade.

He implores to all demonstrants to obey the law. Field coordinators for protesters are also implored to control the demonstrants to not act violently and damage public facilities.
