The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Karyoto, announced his commitment to complete the alleged extortion case involving former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman Firli Bahuri and former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).
"I assure you that we will complete it; we are now in the final phase," he told the press on Friday (22/3/2024), as reported by antaranews.com.
Chief Karyoto explained that the investigators continued working to complete the files for submission to the Jakarta Prosecutor's Office.
"The case's progress relies on these files, which are currently in our possession and will be completed shortly," he added.
The Metro Jaya Police have identified former KPK chairman Firli as a suspect in the alleged extortion case against former minister Limpo (SYL) last year. The case occurred 2020 and 2023.
Firli has been named as a suspect under Law Number 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes and the Criminal Code.
